Indigenous education and training
Tropical North Queensland Institute of TAFE is one of Australia's biggest providers of training to Indigenous people.
As TAFE Queensland's Lead Centre for Indigenous training, the Institute delivers more than a quarter of all vocational education and training provided to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders in Queensland.
Our service area is home to almost 30 per cent of Queensland's Indigenous population, many of whom live in remote communities on Cape York Peninsula and in the Torres Strait. Almost one in five of all Tropical North Queensland Institute of TAFE graduates are Indigenous Australians.

Partnerships
Partnerships with Indigenous organisations and communities are central to Tropical North Queensland Institute of TAFE maintaining its position as the premier provider of training to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students.
The Institute is TAFE Queensland's Lead Centre for Indigenous training, while the Cape York Institute for Policy and Leadership and TAFE Queensland's Indigenous Studies Product Development Unit are both located at the Cairns campus.
The Institute is the coordinating agency for the Department of Education, Training and Employment and Cape York Training and Employment Strategy.

Indigenous Lead Centre
The Indigenous Lead Centre can assist training and education organisations, general businesses and government bodies by providing specialist resources to engage and assist Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
They offer over 30 existing resources and have the ability to design resources unique to individual organisational needs.
The Indigenous Lead Centre is a unit of Tropical North Queensland Institute of TAFE.
